WhiffenProof's founder, Nancy Coleman, has had a diverse career that includes roles as a high school English/Journalism teacher, a feature writer/proofreader/editor for a 50,000-circulation newspaper, and as an ESL teacher in a men's prison.
Over her 20 years at the daily paper in Johnstown, PA, Nancy learned that the most important aspect of writing and editing was humorously referred to as 'accurasy.'
The night newsroom was presided over by an Irish managing editor who, no kidding, wore suspenders and a green eyeshade — just like a character from Central Casting. He was intimidating to cub reporters.
Copy editors would underline mistakes in red grease pencil, easily visible from across the room, providing a strong incentive for accuracy.
Nancy attended the University of Iowa and Penn West University in Pennsylvania, earning a BA in English Literature and Spanish.
She lives in southwestern Pennsylvania with a 52-pound, bouncy, eerily intelligent dog named Tigger.

Fill out the contact form below, using the following as a guide.
Specify what you need for your project. For example, (1) robust editing of your first draft, (2) line editing to make your work shine, (3) copy editing for your nearly perfect writing, or (4) proofreading to catch grammar or spelling errors, typos, and the like, before publication. If you're not sure what you need, we will figure it out together.
The level of formality required in your project can vary significantly. For example, is it a fiction piece, a children's book, a business project, or perhaps a blog?
